Overview Situated near Burton on the Dee Estuary Inner Marsh Farm comprises of marshland, woodland and arable fields. There are 3 freshwater pools overlooked by one hide. The reserve is open 9am to 9pm ( or dusk ) 6 days per week excluding tuesdays when it is closed. Parking is limited with space for 12 cars ( and overflow parking near the wardens office ). Entry is free for RSPB members and £3.00 for non members. Access Follow the A540 towards Neston. Turn left and head for Burton. Pass through the village and take a left fork. Then follow Station Road and take a left turn along an untarmaced road signposted to Burton Point farm. Birds
Waders include Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Spotted Redshank, and Ruff. Also rarities such as two Long Billed Dowitchers in autumn 2009. Ducks include Teal, Pintail and Wigeon and breeding birds include Sedge , Reed and Grasshopper warblers and Reed Bunting. Raptors include Short Eared Owls, Hen and Marsh Harriers, Merlin, Kestrel and Peregrine. Inner Marsh Farm is probably the best location in my local patch for Water Rail. These can be seen close up crossing between cover striaght in front of the hide.
