Overview

Marton Mere is a 44 acre site located 1.5 miles east of Blackpool between the De Veres Golf Course and Marton Mere Caravan Holiday park. It includes a large area of open water , reed beds , grassland, woodland and scrub. There are several hides and a feeding station.

Access

Use the M55 to travel towards Blackpool. At junction 4 take the Blackpool Zoo turn off onto the A583. Follow the signs for the zoo a park in the zoo carpark. It is then a short walk to the reserve.

Birds

Marton Mere supports a good range of warblers ( Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Grasshopper, Reed, Sedge, Whitethroat , Willow and occasional Cetti's ). Long Eared Owls are best seen in winter and water Rail , Bittern ,Jack Snipe and Bearded Tit are sometimes present.
